Piper Reid

OOC

ONE   First and foremost I would like to stress that IC =/= OOC! Anything that happens IC is strictly IC. If my character has said some mean words it does not mean that I myself OOCly mean them. Sometimes characters don't get along, and that's fine!  TWO   Secondly I am open to just about all themes of RP! Dark, Mature, Slice of Life. Throw 'em at me! I like to keep my RP as lore-abiding as possible with a few tidbits of believable lore-bending.  THREE   18+ Themes and other heavy subjects are fine with me so long as I'm given a heads up before hand and so long as boundaries and preferences are respected!

FOUR   I am fine with dice-rolling and free-form both when it comes to combat! Just be sensible about things, please! Limbs are fair-game, but please no unplanned character-death! That's never much fun.  FIVE   The writer is 21+ and will NOT write anything of a mature nature with characters or other writers who are underage. In-game RP is heavily preferred over Discord RP, as my attention span for Discord RPs that take longer than a day to wrap up is terrible.  SIX   If you have any questions please send me a /tell! My discord is given out upon request. If my RP tag is up and I'm in any of the major cities chances are I'm completely fine with you just walking on up! It's always best to ask before-hand just to be sure but more often than not I'll probably welcome it!

  History and more

Piper isn't overly interested in speaking about her own past, and is instead far more interested in finding out about everyone elses. She was born and raised in La Noscea, her father was a sailor who was away from home more often than not. Her mother was a homemaker; often keeping herself busy with decorating their house in various ways, inviting over company, and stressing the importance of outward appearances. With the house so often full of gossiping mothers it became something of a second nature for Piper to pick up on gossip and the tales of fishwives, hiding herself away to scribble down all that she'd learned that day in her personal journal -- The seed of a soon-to-be budding career in journalism! There's more to her history, of course. But it's rare that she'll indulge further than the jump from inquisitive tot to pushy reporter.Wanting to prove her independence, Piper has chosen to remain independent instead of joining up with the various newspapers that print across Eorzea; though she's not opposed to selling any leads and stories she has so long as there's the right incentive.

Hooks

  Common

Journalist!   Piper's bread and butter! She's a journalist willing to write any and all sorts of pieces! Be they slanderous smear pieces, reviews, speculation on the latest rumours and gossip, or anything else she thinks might garner a readership! So don't be surprised if you find her trying to poke around for something juicy!  Take it or Leave it   Piper's personality can best be summed up as 'Take it or leave it' ...Though she rarely seems to have a good reaction when someone chooses the 'leave it' option. She whines, stomps her feet, and pushes her luck to try and get whatever it is she wants!

  Uncommon

For Hire!   Do you need someone to write a review? To write a story dragging someone or something through the mud? A peppy little puff-piece? Piper could be your girl!  Did You Write This?   Maybe Piper wrote about something your character was involved with! A poor business review or even outright lies for the sake of a sensationalist piece! Come shake a fist or two about it.

  Rare

La Noscea's Underbelly   If your character is well-acquainted with La Noscea's gangs of thieves and some of the smaller pirate crews then Piper's face might be one that's faintly recognizable! From the age of sixteen to twenty-one Piper was involved with the less-than-reputable sorts! Using a cute and innocent facade to aid the smuggling of questionable contraband. (please send a /tell if you're interested in this hook!)

  Bracing for the Bloodsands

A quick look at the impromptu sparring group that's embedded themselves into Ul'dah's crossroads! And the adventurer's that smile and frown upon it both!

  Bracing for the Bloodsands

The golden city of Ul’dah is home to many a form of entertainment; from the glitz and glamour of the Platinum Mirage to the sweat and buzz of the Coliseum, there’s something for every taste. Including those who may wish to stretch themselves a little beyond your usual rules.Just outside the Gates of Thal there have been sightings of adventurer’s gathering in what they call “the Bloodsands” (Not to be confused with the official name of the Coliseum, which is also known as the Bloodsands.) A place for fighters and observers alike to collect, socialise, and practice whatever skills they may choose. There are seemingly no rules to these fights, and if one wishes to use magic, magitek, or any other manner of weapon at their disposal then they may.The fights themselves take place in the middle of the crossroads and are often signalled with the shout of: “Blood on the Bloodsands!” heard throughout Ul’dahs many streets.Which may lead one to wonder how the denizens of Ul’dah view this gathering. I decided to discover this for myself and made a few visits to the crossroads to see and review the extent of these blood sports with my own eyes! So, I invite you, beloved reader, to make this venture with me!My first arrival to the crossroads was admittedly a quiet one, with just a small handful of adventurers present calmly chatting amongst themselves. I took this calm as an opportunity to dig myself in and ask a few questions about the Bloodsands itself! The first person I met was a Xaelic woman going by the name of Kas; a laissez faire woman who was happy to offer her help!Q: “Why do you come to the Bloodsands?”A: Kas explained that she comes to the quicksands to watch and sometimes spar with her fellows. She made an additional point that the gathering was a good source of information and networking.Q: “Do you have any opinions on the Bloodsands location?”A: "It’s as good as any other. It's been held here long enough almost all the locals know it's here. So, if it were an issue, someone would have said or done something by now. Plus, it's better out here than in the lanes."

Another individual, who requested not to be named, offered me some additional insight when asked of their opinions on the Bloodsands! Their statement was as follows: “They probably need a better location. Though I think some adventurers working out their frustrations in a way that won’t get anyone hurt in the city is probably much better than the alternative.”

Afterwards, I was pointed towards some of the regulars of the Bloodsands! This gathering of hopefuls and fiery spirits is so well engrained it’s earned itself regulars!

However not everyone has such positive outlooks on the event, as I soon found out when I traversed into Ul’dah itself. I also discovered that many of the Adventurers that come into Ul’dah are very protective of their identity!
Regardless!I came across a man dressed all in Green, who introduced himself only as ‘The Old Man’ and he stated that he viewed the Bloodsands as a “Waste of time”, “One of the lesser of the evils of Ul’dah”, and that “Unfortunately, the reality of this city is that some people need that money to live.”

Being on the crossroads just outside Thal’s Gates one of my own first thoughts was that it’s in disturbingly close quarters to the myriad refugee camps that sit outside Ul’dahs walls, and it appears to have the potential to block part of the road that connects Little Ala Mhigo to Ul’dah. But this will all depend on just how busy the Bloodsands proves to be on any given day. It is an event that is held in a twenty-four bell cycle.

Ultimately, we can only wait to see how the Bloodsands will stand the vaunted test of time! Meanwhile, what are your thoughts on the Bloodsands? I’d encourage any and all readers to observe the gathering for themselves before coming to their final conclusions!
This has been Peppy Piper Reid! Until next time!
